David
David is band leader and has played in ceilidh bands for over 20 years at weddings, Burns nights, St Andrews nights, birthdays and corporate events around Scotland and beyond. He is based in Glenrothes, Fife. David started off playing with the Wullie Fraser ceilidh band in 2005, before being invited to play with numerous other bands.
David can play either fiddle or drums, and brings in suitable musicians for whatever lineup is required.
Calling
David is experienced in calling (talking through the dances), not only running ceilidhs throughout Scotland but also travelling to play at ceilidh events throughout Europe, Africa and Asia, working with the Scottish government and embassies. He is well accustomed to explaining and giving instructions for all the most popular dances.
David will bring radio mics and do the calling on the dance floor if needed or work from the stage if it seems more appropriate. As well as talking through dances beforehand we also keep an eye on dancers and can continue calling while playing if needed.
Ceilidh caller with backing tracks
For those looking for a minimal setup, David can also come to your event as a ceilidh caller with backing tracks. He will bring his own radio mics, iPad with music, sound system and lighting if needed.
